The Toshiba Tecra S1 is made for the mobile business professional of the 21st century. With Centrino technology and multiple integrated communications solutions, including IEEE 802.11b and optional Bluetooth wireless, you'll never be out of touch even in the most remote location. This Centrino model is configured with a 1.4GHz Pentium M processor, a 1MB on-die L2 cache, a 40GB EIDE user-removeable hard drive and 256MB PC2100 SDRAM (expandable to 2GB). In addition to the 400MHz bus speed, the Tecra S1 features two Type II CardBus slots that can also accommodate one Type III card and a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive with software decoder for full video playback housed in the Slim SelectBay. Swap out the combo drive for other optional modules, like a second battery, second hard drive (adapter required) or CD-RW drive. The S1 gives you more options than ever before for connecting to your LAN or the Internet. Use the 56K V.92 modem when you're on the road, the 10/100 Ethernet when you're at your desk or the IEEE 802.11b wireless while you're roaming! You can also exchange information or files with co-workers with the integrated infrared. It also supports optional Bluetooth wireless communications. The 15" TFT display supports resolutions up to 1024 x 768 in 16 million colors, and is controlled by ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 graphics with 32MB internal video memory. External monitors are also supported at up to 2048 x 1536 in 16 million colors. The 16-bit audio gives you full multimedia with built-in stereo speakers and microphone. The notebook comes with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack with more than 5 hours of life, dual pointing devices and an 85-key full size keyboard. Windows XP Professional is pre-installed.
